what’s fair is fair

We bit the bullet this morning and went to the fair. The great Minnesota get-together, if you will. I thought we’d avoid the fair again this year (as we did last year), because it is always just so HOT during fair time, and so crowded, and I just do not like being one of those [...]

randomness galore

To begin, a Ryan napping update: Monday- refused a morning nap, so took one nap mid-day that lasted 45 minutes. Urgh. Tuesday- refused a morning nap, so took one nap mid-day, that lasted 2.5 hours. YAY!! Wednesday- I decided if this is how he wants to play the game, we’ll go out and DO something [...]

naps, naps and no naps

Do any toddler mommies out there have any sage words of wisdom for me regarding my child’s recent napping pattern? A little background on the subject:
Age: 15 (almost 16) months
Name: Ryan
Alias(es): Ry Guy, Little Dude, Bud
Favorite word(s): Ba! Da!
Napping History: Has been taking two naps a day for months and months and months. Naps occur [...]

goldendoodles

Someone brought up an interesting point upon relating our recent dog attack incident to others… SpasticGoldenRetriever + SpasticStandardPoodle (should) = SpasticGoldenDoodle that attacks itself?!?
So much for that theory, as proven by this docile creature that we met last week during our one-day vacation.

They pretty much totally ignored each other the whole time we were outside…until…the sippy cups entered the picture. Max was not pleased with Grandma’s 1977 version of a sippy cup, so he proceeded to turn it on end [...]

cyclops

We have returned from another fabulously relaxing and beautiful-weather-filled weekend at the cabin.
Of note:
-All three dogs came out alive, but it was touch and go there for awhile.
-FatJ inadvertently allowed a life jacket to be taken by the wind while cruising in the pontoon. Upon returning to shore, we looked out to sea and discovered [...]

christmas lake

Question: What do a nine-months-pregnant lady who works for the public schools, a stay at home mom, and a producer of the 10:00pm news have in common??
Answer: They are all free to head out in a boat on a lake on a gorgeous summer’s weekday at 9:00am. Aaaaaah.
This one got a new boat.

And invited us [...]

twitter dee dee

Umm kay, moving right along here in the world of technology, I now have a Twitter widget right over there>>>>. Isn’t that just uber-exciting???
Typically I scoff at anything that’s the ‘latest craze’ (e.g. Facebook), but it just so happened that I jumped on the Twitter bandwagon waaaaaaaay back in the day when Twitter was virtually [...]
