See those two little teeth on the bottom of that little mouth? First tooth (bottom left) to grow in at age 6 (or something) months…
…was also the first to fall out at 5.75 years.

We had coincidentally been at the dentist earlier that Friday morning for cleanings. The dentist told Ry that his loose tooth wouldn’t make it through the weekend. He gave Ryan an adorable plastic treasure chest to put the tooth in once he lost it. (This was VERY EXCITING because the school nurse hands out these treasure chests if a kid loses a tooth during school.)
Sure enough, that evening before dinner I handed Ry a carrot and said “your tooth might come out if you eat this”, and what do you know, some carrot got stuck under the loose tooth and in trying to get the carrot out- voila!- tooth out as well. He could not believe it when he looked down in his hand and there was the tooth. Tears were shed, that’s how surprised he was. He got over that in a heartbeat though, when the excitement of getting $5 from the tooth fairy (“just like Max- that’s what he got. I WILL get $5 mommy! that’s what the tooth fairy GIVES”) sunk in.
((And then came the debacle of what to do with the tooth once the tooth fairy had taken it and given the money. Um, I couldn’t just throw it away. That baby tooth- it now resides in a certain jewelry box.))

hahaha – sorry about the $5 :) we made that clear it was only that much for the FIRST tooth… i think he got $1 for the second one!
